"What is Your Water Story" Workshop Travels to New Jersey Counties
On March 7th, faculty member Jen Kitson conducted a "What is your water story" workshop at the West Deptford Free Public Library, where they invited participants to share and record their perspectives, memories, and experiences with water in New Jersey.
Megan Bucknum and Jen are bringing this public workshop to each of New Jersey's 21 counties as part of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities environmental humanities programming taking place in conjunction with the traveling Water/Ways exhibit.
Water/Ways is a part of Museum on Mainstreet, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, and was adapted from an exhibition organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York.
The Water/Ways exhibit is currently on display at the West Deptford Library until April 10th. https://njhumanities.org/humanities-to-go/museum-on-main-street/
As part of a related NJCH funded project, "Watershed Stories: Connecting People, Place, and Water" Jen, Megan, and Mahbubur Meenar are creating a public archive and digital exhibition in collaboration with Rowan Libraries Digital Scholarship Center.
This project emerged in conjunction with NJ MAP and the 'watershed stories' we are archiving will also likely end up on Watershed Explorer.
18 counties have been visited, but the 3 remaining have been postponed until further notice. More to come!
