RUSPO Update

An Update from the Advisor

RUSPO had an eventful and fulfilling spring semester. On February 3rd, RUSPO teamed up with two courses: PLAN 31280 “Foundations of Planning and Environmental Design” and GEOG 16250 “Public Art and Social Practice Studio” for the nighttime activation of Time Sweeps outside of Discovery Hall. There, RUSPO handed out hot chocolate and sold pretzels, which was a welcome addition to what turned out to be a very chilly night. We enjoyed projection mapping on the Time Sweeps sculpture and the activities hosted by the “Foundations of Planning and Environmental Design” class.

On March 31st RUSPO took part in Patio Pride where we asked students to place a pin on a map of campus that coincided with where they enjoy spending time.

On April 29th we used the PATCO to take a trip to the Magic Gardens in Philadelphia which is an immersive mixed media art environment that is completely covered with mosaics. This display was a unique look into how public art can turn spaces into beautiful experiences. Afterwards we walked south down 9th Street where we engaged with local food vendors and had a picnic in the park. This trip was a dive into public art and Philadelphia’s diverse and expansive food environment.

For RUSPO’s service we took part in the SGA’s period product drive. We are super thankful to all those who donated and helped make the donation drive a huge success. We look forward to the Fall 2022 semester and all the adventures and opportunities it holds!
