GIS Mentors Program
GIS Mentors Program
The GIS Mentors program is a group of students who have demonstrated excellence in their geospatial classes, a willingness to help others in GIS education, and a desire to apply in support of research and professional opportunities.
Students will be expected to attain a certain number of service hours through a variety of roles, which may include assisting others with GIS assignments and projects over web-based meeting applications, participation in mapping-related activities of the department and GeoClub/Youthmappers, and collaboration or contribution to faculty research projects. There is no ongoing payment for this role, though certain opportunities may have individual payments for services completed in that role. Mentors will also receive a certificate of recognition for their service.

- What qualities do you believe make a good mentor? Give an example of a situation when you believed you served as a good mentor (formally or informally) to someone in the past?
- How would participating as a GIS mentor in this program contribute to your longer-term career goals?
